Jesus said, “They shall take up serpents” (Mark 16:18). This scripture has nothing to do with handling snakes, but rather overcoming the challenge of the false religious system (F.R.S.) whom God depicts as the serpent, or the serpent’s knowledge.
As also Jesus also said in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Treading underfoot means to overcome and subdue the serpent’s knowledge, even as Moses’ rod which God turned into a serpent swallowed the serpents of Pharaoh, as a sign that Christ’s knowledge and covenant would prevail against the devil and his fake gospel.
Exodus 7:12
For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.
Even so in this time, Jesus’ word to His apostles is again taking root in the church, as we also challenge the Pharaohs (F.R.S.).
Mountain of the House of the Lord
Micah 4:1
But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
This prophecy refers to Jesus overcoming the religious leaders of His day who presented themselves as a greater power, even as Moses overcame Pharaoh and his signs through his false stewards.
Though Jesus was establishing the strength, power, and glory of His house and kingdom, the hills (man’s philosophical kingdoms) exalted themselves and rose up against Him.
The Lord likens His house to a mountain in that He exalts His truth and makes His truth visible and the nations will flow into it. The people will flow into the mountain of the House of the Lord.
Jesus’ Temptations
Luke 22:28
Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
John 11:57
Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.
John 14:12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
The religious leaders sought to exalt their own denominational houses against the Lord, and in Micah God speaks of this challenge, which is the same that the righteous face today against such ministers who present their false works (as Pharaoh’s serpents) as the peaks of God’s glory. God weighs the greater works to establish the kingdom of God high above the aspiration of man.
David’s Temptations
The same temptations Jesus was challenged with, was shared by those that followed Him, even as those who followed king David also endured his hardship as he fled from Saul.
1 Samuel 23:14
And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
Rebuked by the Chief Priests
Matthew 16:21
From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Matthew 26:59
Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death.
Jesus’ Stewardship and the Apostles’ Temptations
Acts 26:10
Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.
Jesus Cleansing the Temple
John 2:15
And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables.
Exodus 7:12
For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.
Today the Second 8th Week is cleansing the House of God of the doctrines of the serpents and removing the false stewardship, overthrowing the money changers.
Micah 6:2
Hear ye, O mountains, the Lord’s controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the Lord hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.
The knowledge of God is exalted in His mountain against the philosophies of the false gospel and the mountains of corruption; the ministers of unrighteousness. God is announcing His controversy against the foolish pastors and mega churches, great and small in the voices of His stewards today as He did for thousands of years ago through His prophets.
The Result will be the Same
As in ancient days, the results today are the same: they will go into captivity and suffer under His wrath, but the righteous will escape His wrath and enter His rest.
