Did you know that if you keep your dreams locked up inside of you that you’ll never realize them? You might think that I’m talking about learning how to release your dreams, but I’m not. I’m saying that if you limit your dreams to yourself, you will never reach your full potential in God.
In this season of change and transition, God is teaching the church to dream BIG – to dream with Him. This is a shift away from the current Christian culture where it has been popular to lead believers to list their career goals, relationship goals, financial goals, and then imagine how God can help them make these dreams come true.
It’s time to shift your focus. Even though the true size of your soul is as the size of a universe, in comparison to God, it is like a drop of water to the ocean. What I’m saying is that if your dream is “about you”, your dream will stay locked up inside of “you” – the drop of water –and will never be poured into the ocean of God’s soul.
What I’m saying is that you can spend your whole life realizing the dream of your signature and miss completely how small this dream really is. God is not the husbandman of this garden that grows up and fades away in a lifetime of achievements.
When nearing the end of their lives people testify to the smallness of their goals. Not that they did not reach them, because they have and many times surpass them, but because in the end, the realization of their signature gifts did not give life to their soul. And that’s because God is not in the business of empowering us to realize this very small dream about the potential of our careers, relationships, & finances.
On the other hand, if your dream is God – to reach your full potential in Christ – then He will open the door to His throne to you. Your true potential is in Him and the reality of it is beyond anything you could ever imagine.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
So again, are your dreams the size of your heart or the size of God’s heart? Did you know that if you keep your dreams focused on yourself and your life, this is in fact dreaming small and is limiting God?
Compare Your Light to the Light of Jesus Christ
Since the devil redesigned salvation to be about realizing the full potential of your signature in this world, this is a lesson in comparisons. God is healing the hurt of His children who were wrongfully taught to direct faith towards self realizations and discoveries.
Let’s compare the light of the human signature to the light of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
And also in John 12:36 Jesus said, “While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.”
The light of Jesus Christ is His knowledge, it is the record God provided in His Son for our faith to reflect Him. God gave us the 12 essential elements of the gospel as a foundation from which to build faith in God. Truth is this construction of knowledge that God calls “light” in that the Holy Spirit uses truth (Christ in His record) to inspire, teach, and guide us in discernment to know how to build in God’s kingdom to honor God above ourselves.
The Spirit of God reciprocates our faith to give life to our soul in the face and person of Jesus Christ, adding to the soul the beauty of His holiness. Apart from this divine work of the Holy Spirit, we are as the nations of the world, drawing life from the light of our own signature, seeing hope in each budding promise.
Are You Dreaming to the Size of Your Heart?
Are you limiting God by dreaming to the size of your heart? This is radical and this is new, but absolutely necessary for you to hear. It feels right to want to spend your life exploring every avenue of your signature skills and talents and unique gifts. That’s right, you are wonderfully made! And when God made you, He broke the mold. You are one of a kind.
The devil knows that the true potential of your soul is galaxies away from the smallness of your signature gifts, relationships, and financial potential. The devil knows that you feel the vastness of God’s promise to you to raise you up in His likeness, but he misdirects your efforts by introducing you to your imagination.
Much like the mythological song of the siren who was said to lure unsuspecting sailors to their deaths by enchanting music that offers those under their spell their deepest desire – that’s what the devil does.
When a minister is playing to your imagination, telling you that God can do great things for you, beyond your wildest dreams, he is playing the song of the sirens. Satan is speaking to you of your deepest desires – but not God’s desire for you.
Can God provide an inheritance in Christ beyond your wildest dreams? Yes. Is He willing to do that for you? Yes. Can you partake of that now – today? Yes. But God won’t sing to your flesh (signature skills and talents) to promise to release a stronger, better, more joyful you.
The foolish base their relationship with God on their desire to bring their signature to fulness. But the wise in heart, the righteous, the faithful, base their relationship with God on Jesus Christ for God will bring the virtues of Christ to fulness in you.
Satan Redirects the Labor of the Mind
God designed your soul to labor to enter into rest. As Apostle Paul taught, “Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” (Hebrews 4:11)
Satan directs this labor of the mind with self, promising that if you labor to bring your signature gifts and financials, and relationship goals to fruition, you will enter into rest (find closure—a better you, a better tomorrow).
Satan’s promise is based on the design and desire of the soul for rest and to be like God. But what he does not tell you is that if you labor with the lesser light, the light of your own signature, you will not find rest and you will not reflect Christ. You are dreaming to the size of your own heart.
You see, God determined that your soul reflect Him. This is the purpose of giving us Jesus Christ in the light of His knowledge. So, while it is true that your soul was designed to labor to enter into rest, it’s only half true. God specifically designed your soul to labor with the things of Christ to enter into rest.
God assigned Jesus Christ as our peace with Him to bring us into harmony with God (into a new rhythm with the Spirit where the signature of man is not sought after for our closure with God).
We are called to labor with the expectation of God that our faith meet the standard He set in Jesus. Therefore do we labor with His record to please God. And as this is the very same record the Holy Spirit empowers to confirm Christ, we enter into rest, ceasing to strive for the temporary rest of the flesh once sought after in the dreams of the imagination.
Your Soul is as a Color in the Spectrum of God’s Rainbow
There is another comparison we can make between your soul and God’s soul to understand God’s purpose for faith. God created a whole spectrum of colors to help each individual know the limitations of their signature. We (the signature of the soul) are but a color in the spectrum of God’s rainbow.
The color wants to be all he can be and if you’re purple, you want to shine the most brilliant hue of purple you can. I’m not talking about competition or pride or arrogance. I’m talking about focus. While the natural man thinks about the brightness of his own color and how he can perfect that, the spiritual man in Christ thinks about God’s plan to return to Him in the fulness of Christ.
No matter how brightly you may shine in the perfection of your own color, it will never be enough. God is teaching you to dim your own light so that you might take on the value of Christ.
Having said that, will God help you guide your children, help you as a spouse or a friend, help you with your finances? God does hear these prayers, yes. When you are in covenant with God, you can pray with confidence that God hears you.
The natural man wants to place value upon his own light, which God calls a transgression as this mindset is lawless against His covenant and plan that Jesus be the value of the soul.
God Tests the Letters in the Dimension of These Waters
Just as you are a color in God’s spectrum, you are also a letter in His name. Again, by way of comparison, God is teaching the value of the soul is greater than the signature He gave it. The signature of your soul simply cannot be the measure of your worth or the focus of faith.
Take this test to see where you place the value of Christ, whether in the fulness and fruition of your signature or in the fruition of His record.
Write these words on a piece of paper:
Under each heading write your expectations for that area. Note how you apply love, creativity, adventure, beauty, strength, prosperity, knowledge, and dreams. Are you dreaming small, trying to fit these things into the frame of the flesh?
If you find yourself saying, “I want to be more loving, caring, more creative; I want to be more adventurous, I want to add beauty to my life, I want to be strong” and trying to foresee how God can help build these things in you, then you’re using God to add voltage to your own light. These are ways in which you are thinking of your life. No matter how sincerely it is prayed that this be for God’s honor and glory rather than your own, it’s still your light. And God won’t honor our light – He will only honor and glorify Jesus Christ.
When a person is not in covenant with God, then they’re forever trying to build a relationship with God around these things the soul desires. The habit of man is to dream small, by trying to fit the virtue of God to the human signature. Don’t lock your dreams inside of your heart. God wants you to dream big. He is returning you to His bosom in the fulness of Christ.
The purpose of our creation was to carry the tradition of God’s light, but man wants to be praised for his light. Satan’s promise is a false light. He teaches the letters how to find life in the expression of their own color. As each person reaches for the hopes and dreams as seen through the eye of their color, God reminds His creation that their glory is as a fading flower. God only has the power to give life through the person and work of Jesus Christ.
