Can a Christian be demon possessed? The answer is NO! A true Christian is one who is in covenant with God and thus his faith has been sealed by the engrafting of God’s Holy Spirit within his soul. God has taken ownership of the soul.

You’ve been translated from the kingdom of darkness (sin) into the kingdom of God (righteousness). Having been delivered from that kingdom, you have also been delivered from those powers that work darkness upon the soul.

Colossians 1:13
“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.”

The confusion is over the state of the soul after conversion, which is in need of healing, which God attends to by His Spirit daily as we abide in Christ, choosing the record of His knowledge as our washing and the fire of His Spirit as our purging, receiving the many gifts of His propitiation for our reciprocation.

God takes pleasure in that which provides our rest. The soul is no longer laboring with iniquity upon iniquity. The soul is now laboring with grace upon grace. “The law came by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

The Marvels of Regeneration

Why do Christians Seek Deliverance?

If God has provided so richly for our contact with Him for our experience of Him, why then are so many Christians seeking deliverance from unclean spirits? For them, sin is not in remission as God had planned.

You can’t serve 2 masters and expect to live in the power of God over sin. Jesus said, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24)

  • You cannot serve God and your aspiration.

  • You cannot serve God and your imagination.

  • You cannot serve God and your principle.

The aspiration, imagination, and principle are the 3-fold cord of Satan which binds the soul to his powers of deception. A person cannot be delivered from deception. You need truth – the will needs to bow the knee in submission to God’s truth to be set free of deception.

Deliverance From Sin and Oppression

Truth, as the foundation of the soul, sets the captive free from sin and the oppression of the devil. Consider John 8:31-32 where Jesus said, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the TRUTH shall make you FREE.”

And also Luke 4:18 where Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the GOSPEL to the poor; he hath sent me to HEAL the brokenhearted, to preach DELIVERANCE to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at LIBERTY them that are bruised.”

Jesus provided Himself as a pattern and contact point for faith to follow. The inclination of the heart, while lost in the kingdom of darkness, had been to build for self. This resulted in the devil ruling the soul through fear, suspicion, anger, regret, guilt, and sorrow of loss.

God gave the devil permission to come and resist your faith. The devil means to draw you back under the shadow of his false knowledge and perceptions gained while in his kingdom.

However, God means this operation of resistance for your good. Resistance is phase 2 of the 3-phase growth cycle. God created the opportunity for the choice of faith to be made so that He could reward you with more grace, more power, more gifts.

Jesus showed us the way when the Spirit of God led Him into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil, thus setting a pattern for our overcoming in and through Him.

Resistance followed revelation and God’s reward followed the choice of faith. This is you overcoming temptation. You are empowered to overcome yourself, the world and the devil by the circumcision of the soul.

A Summary Trade is Denied the Power of God

The false gospel does not preach the record of Christ, nor His covenant terms, nor His sanctified tools, nor His priesthood, nor the work of the Spirit to create in the soul the virtues of Christ. Instead, a summary trade is preached that appeals to the logic and psychological needs of a person.

For example, many times you’ll hear it taught: “If you were delivered from a spirit fear,  meditate on Scriptures about how God has not given you a spirit of fear and Scriptures about the peace of God. If you were delivered from rejection, meditate on the love and acceptance of God.”

Fear and rejection are not overcome by trading them for peace, love, and acceptance. The false religious system teaches how to resolve the guilt which they feel in their conscience. So, you’re given a form of psychology, as Paul talked about in the book of Colossians saying, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2:8)

The Spirit of God through Apostle Paul is speaking to the habit of man to address his own lack and guilt by using psychological trade-offs; he’s talking about all the nuances and variables of one’s soul; the conditions of one’s soul.

The soul was damaged while in the kingdom of darkness. Remission of sins is the work of the Spirit to daily heal the soul of those scars and to circumcise from the soul those fruits of iniquity.

When rejecting the knowledge of the covenant, a person is casting off responsibility to commit faith to this prophetic path. Instead, they want to draw God into their conflicts of conscience. If you go that route, you’ll be stuck in deliverance lines forever – naming it/claiming it, trying to find the holy grail of scriptures that others claim work miracles in their lives.

The variables of everybody’s soul is different. But God provided one point of contact in Jesus Christ. Instead of addressing the nuances of every individual on the level of themselves, God says, You have to look up, and I’ll give it to you. I’ll give you your peace because I AM your peace. I’ll join you to me through the sanctified tools of the covenant and then you’ll be the pupil of my eye. My eye will be upon you.

Faith is the Pupil of God’s Eye

Hebrews 11:6
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

So here we see that a daily choice is set before us, to put down the tokens of the flesh and confidence born from the record of man; to put these aside, to choose faith.

Without faith it is impossible to please God. We have to operate within the frame that God has sanctified by the anointing, and we meet His expectation perfectly.

Faith is the equity of God’s eye. Faith, to God’s eye, is like a beautiful sunset, or a field of tulips, in the early spring. Or, it’s like an orchard that has its fruit bright and ready to pick. Like right now, the season for picking grapes is very close, and the heat of the sun has provided the assistance for the purpose of bringing these grapes to the point now of its perfection so that it meets the equity of the vine dresser.

This is the equity of God’s eye: your faith. Do you want to please Him? If you want to be as the pupil of His eye, you have to walk by faith.

There’s a lot of people who assume the pupil of the eye in regards to their culture or their tradition, or their selection of text. No, the pupil of God’s eye is faith.

Reading again from Hebrews 11:6, “For he that comes to God”, which means that your approach to Him must be on His terms, “must believe that He is”. This speaks of the revelation of Christ that He provided. You have to follow through on the terms of the covenant.

“and that He is the rewarder” (highlight the word, rewarder) which means He gives gifts of propitiation for a continued relationship. The reciprocation of our Father is based upon our behavior towards Him by faith.

When revivalists claim to cast out devils of fear, devils or suspicion, devils of rejection, what are they doing? They want God to come down to their level, and that’s what Moses said not to do. God is not going to come down to your level. You have to worship Him with the tokens that He has provided for you, and that’s your charity, your love towards Him. That’s what He takes pleasure in.
