Satan’s fragmented gospel acts as a substitute for God’s covenant with us through Jesus. Nowhere is this more visible in the false church body than the practice of “applying”, “declaring”, and “pleading” the blood of Jesus in hopes it will open doors of blessing and provide covering.

This corrupt teaching is heard in every corner of Christianity and God is now undoing the damage Satan’s ministers caused.

In a recent podcast, John Bevere asked his wife Lisa, “How do people get around the up and down syndrome?” He didn’t know it, but he was describing the wilderness Christian who lives in the absence of Jesus’ covenant.

Instead of making a covenant choice to exercise their will with the spiritual tools God sprinkled with Jesus’ blood, John and Lisa Bevere promote Satan’s substitute: applying the blood of Jesus to common wilderness struggles and declaring the blood of Jesus over circumstances. The devil keeps them talking about the “blood” while remaining separated from the terms of His covenant.

They think they’re celebrating the blood, but they despise the blood, allowing Satan to severe the blood from the covenant and turn it into a ritual. (Heb. 10:29)

Covenant from God’s perspective means to come into 100% agreement with Him that He set terms for our contact with Him by which we observe Him, touch Him, and reciprocate to Him.

Jesus shed His blood on the cross to set the terms of God’s new covenant in Himself. His blood flowed upon Himself to teach us that He is the living token of God’s new covenant. And then God sprinkled Jesus’ blood on His new knowledge, new apostolic stewardship and new priesthood to give us a new way to approach Him based on what He approved of—Jesus.

Faith Without a Priesthood is Dead

The modern practice of “applying,” “declaring,” and “pleading” the blood is the devil’s substitute for covenant contact. This ritual is dead.

It’s faith without a priesthood where God communes with us in the spiritual growth system He designed for us to receive His grace, labor with it, and benefit from it as we reciprocate to Him the gift He gave us. Faith without a God-given priesthood is dead because it doesn’t function in Jesus’ covenant with His tools.

Think about Aaron’s rod that came to life. It budded, blossomed, and grew almonds. God provided that sign to represent the living priesthood He would give us in Jesus. But the Lord also set a sign and testimony against those whose priesthood is dead because He knew that Satan would rival Jesus’ new priesthood with dead rituals.

Let’s dive into that now. In Numbers 16 we read about Korah, God’s negative role model. Much like ministers today, Korah was a leader and known influencer. He not only wanted to step into the shoes of Moses’ stewardship to lead the people, but he also wanted to develop his own priesthood.

Korah wanted to serve God his own way. This is the very transgression God is confronting again in the false church body. And to unmask it, the Lord set two signs upon the transgressor.

The First Sign: The False Anointing

In Numbers chapter 16 God established the stewardship in the hand and mouth of Moses. Yet Korah and 250 men networking with him challenged Moses and claimed God was speaking through them. But it was a false anointing. Korah could not discern the false anointing he was working with. The 250 ministers networking with him couldn’t discern it. And the congregation that followed them could not discern it.

They offered false fire before the Lord just as ministers today offer false truths to the Lord, failing to discern the false anointing. The Lord’s judgment followed: He made the earth to open her mouth, and the transgressors of His covenant were swallowed up out of His sight.

The Second Sign: The False-Dead Priesthood

The narrative continues in Numbers 17, where God establishes another sign against the transgressors who seized the priesthood for themselves. He marked their priesthood as not only false—but dead.

Whose priesthood was living? Whose priesthood was dead? Whose priesthood was after the Lord’s heart, and whose was invented after their own?

The Lord settled the matter. He told Moses to “write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi”, for He was establishing the priesthood in Aaron. Then He commanded the transgressors to bring their own rods before Him, each after their tribe. And they did so. Each brought their dead branch before the Lord to see which one bore the sign of His sanctification.

The dead branches of the dead priesthood remained dead. But the living token of the living priesthood bore the Lord’s sign of life.

The Lord testifies to that, for in morning when the rods were examined, it was only Aaron’s rod that showed life. Aaron’s rod was the only rod that burst into life. It had “budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.”

This was a sign of Christ and His new, living priesthood for us today—His growth cycles that produce His living fruit in the inner man. The new priesthood in Jesus gives you a liberty you never thought you’d experience, because it joins your faith to His living work.

The Lord teaches us in this conflict between the rebels and the stewardship and priesthood He selected. And His signs are especially important today.

The transgressors claim the priesthood for themselves and take the position of stewardship to teach believers how to apply the blood of Jesus to reverse circumstances and claim their peace and victories.

  • But their rods don’t show the signs of the life of Christ. Their rods are dead branches of dead trees. They have no buds, no blooms, and no fruit. Their faith doesn’t show the signs of life God placed in Jesus’ new priesthood where our daily growth cycles take place. Their priesthood is dead.

Their anointing is false and their faith is dead because they severed the blood from Jesus’ covenant and severed the knowledge from Christ. They failed to connect Jesus’ blood to the living priesthood where God designed our faith to function with His living tools to work His divine nature in the inner man.

If your faith lacks a functioning priesthood—it’s dead. You cannot make a confession of Jesus’ blood and recite, “I apply—claim—plead the blood of Jesus over this circumstance, over my family, over my heart,” and hope God will overlook that Jesus’ covenant terms and tools have been purged from your faith.

Which is exactly what the Apostle James confirmed as he also stood against the transgressors of Jesus’ covenant.

James 2:17
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone [severed from Jesus’ covenant].

The Lord is shedding His light on a widespread problem. The false church body has mainstreamed a covenant‑less gospel built on ritual blood declarations. There is no getting around Satan’s abuses while continuing to preach in the covenant void.

Ask any believer today who has been misled by the teachings of the false church body. Ask them if they have made a covenant decision for Jesus and they’ll tell you they never heard of Jesus’ covenant terms and tools. They were taught to “apply the blood,” not to enter His covenant.

We see how God joined the stewardship and priesthood together and why Satan wanted to destroy them both through Korah then and again through his ministers today.

Do You Know the Terms of God’s New Covenant in Jesus?

God gave one plan, one purpose, and one covenant in Jesus Christ. Yet many Christians have never heard of Jesus’ covenant and don’t know the terms and conditions God set in Jesus for our fruitful contact with Him.

Jesus’ covenant is absent from their teaching, absent from their conscience, and absent from their faith vocabulary. When Jesus’ covenant ceases to be taught, it ceases to exist in your mind.

Satan created a vacuum—a covenant void—and then filled that vacuum with his false gospels and distorted teachings.

A New Equipping in Jesus’ Name: Covenant Tools

If you haven’t heard of Jesus’ covenant, you most likely were never equipped with His spiritual tools (tokens), so you might wonder, “What are spiritual tools?” You may even think, “I didn’t know that spiritual tools are part of God’s plan.”

And here we see why God’s original blueprint of knowledge must be your foundation. Without God’s knowledge, your faith is stripped of Jesus’ tools and you are left to wander in a wilderness exile—cut off from the very provisions meant to form Christ within.

Covenant + tools was once an unquestioned pairing.

  • Through the real apostolical character, God is rebuilding His connection between “covenant” and “tools” and the “activity” of your faith.

God determined that His mercy would be in His tools—in that form of contact—and made it possible for our faith to be active with what He provides. The Lord made provision for your labor of faith in His house.

Your faith must be active with the tools He sanctified with Jesus’ blood. Yet these connections disappeared from the modern Christian culture, and the absence of expectation is unique to the false church body.

Jesus’ covenant has tools, and the neglect of them today is the real problem. Modern Christians have never been taught to associate covenant with tools, so Jesus’ spiritual tools feel foreign, unrelatable, or optional. God designed His spiritual tools to work in His new spiritual priesthood, and here many of you will again scratch your head, “I never heard of Jesus’ priesthood or that I needed a priesthood.”

Or you might think Jesus’ new priesthood is just another way of saying, “I pray.” And that Jesus’ new altar is again another way of saying, “I pray.” So your response would naturally be, “Of course I pray. I’m faithful to pray.” But prayer in the covenant void is not the same as prayer in the covenant priesthood where God placed our faithfulness to Him.

Claiming a Purged Conscience While Doing This…

John Bevere speaks of going for months feeling like a failure in prayer, yet this is not our testimony when we function in our priesthood where Jesus is our equal exchange with God.

Covenant-less teaching always shifts between what you feel and the boldness you’re striking for, and how you want to play that out by deconstructing the scriptures to apply to your situation.

Ministers in the false church body spent years observing their own dysfunctional faith, trying to fill the gap between what scripture says and what they’re wrestling with. As if examining their faith in the light of their failures helps facilitate conversations that will get them where they think God wants them to go.

This is a tempting avenue ministers can’t resist.

They want to get to a place where they’re able to “use their own poor choices as an example to teach transgressors the way of the Lord.” But the way of the Lord is covenant—not transgression. And that’s why God put His pattern in Jesus, not in a person’s struggles and inner turmoil.

Ministers talk about their circumstances, their past mistakes, and their feelings, and then go to the scriptures because they want a power greater than themselves to feel secure. They assume the scripture is the pattern to access God’s power, but God said that Jesus is His pattern to access His power.

That’s why God gave us Jesus’ spiritual tools, sprinkled with Jesus’ blood. These are not the same tools God told Moses to sprinkle the blood of an animal. The Lord signified which tools He now works through to fulfill His purpose in you for fruit bearing and prepare you as kings and priests to sit on His throne.

Wilderness ministers are using the wrong tools.

They’re always dancing on that line of struggle where they’re advocating for themselves: “My confidence is not built by what I do or what people think of me, but on God’s faithfulness.” Yet that’s the covenant void. Jesus’ entire covenant function and tools that God empowers is entirely missing from their conversation.

  • Claiming a purged conscience while continuing to play out your sin-conscious arguments in your mind is Satan’s double mindedness.

Ministers simply use the scriptures to play out the arguments taking place in their mind. They align their feelings to scripture and declare, “This is God speaking to me.” But that’s Satan’s pattern and his voice, using scripture to help you play out your convictions, just as he tempted Jesus to do. But Jesus did not follow Satan’s example, and neither should you.

You think you’re being bold and doing battle against the devil, but Satan has the upper hand: he’s succeeded in keeping you in an ongoing, never-ending battle against yourself.

You can’t teach people the way of Jesus’ covenant when you haven’t entered into it. Resolving your feelings by applying scripture and “applying the blood” falls short of the glory of God because,

  • it’s not the blueprint He designed for fruit bearing
  • it’s not Jesus’ priesthood He designed for spiritual labor
  • it’s not Jesus’ altar He designed for your reciprocation

The Lord is making the covenant void so obvious you can’t miss it and describing dead faith in a way that you will hear it when false ministers teach it. The enemy of your soul teaches ministers how to reason. But their starting point to reason with God is the fruits of iniquity they are examining within themselves.

This defiled teaching is being passed on to you.

Satan simply magnifies the defiled conscience ministers are trying to escape. But God isn’t doing that. He’s calling His people to return to the lost foundation of truth.

The Lord says, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” The pure in heart see God in the knowledge of His covenant. That’s why the foundation of truth is vital. It’s God’s starting point for you to reason with Him. He set order to His knowledge to allow us to see Him and separate ourselves to Him by the Spirit. (Mt. 5:8)

A minister of the false gospel may point to the scripture and say, “Salvation is a gift. I can’t do anything to earn it. I was justified by His blood.” And they’ll emphasize and articulate the word “blood” slowly and clearly, but still deny the apostolic stewardship and priesthood of the covenant—they still neglect to teach what Jesus’ covenant contains.

They are fighting to stand in what Satan gave them. They want their experiences to be equivalent to truth, but God is removing Satan’s mask and denying his lies.

How Many Keys Do You Have On Your Spiritual Key ring?

Take a moment to look at your spiritual key ring. Over the years, you’ve gathered keys from every direction: books on how to release God’s blessings, manuals on spiritual warfare tactics, guides on how to shed a beggar mentality, teachings on how to maximize your “waiting seasons”, instructions on how to hear God’s voice, lessons on how to interpret suffering, how to apply and plead the blood as strategies for walking in victory.

It’s time to share another portion from Apostle Eric vonAnderseck’s new book, Apostles Restore the Lost Foundation. In the following excerpt, Apostle Eric reveals how each key felt inspired, each promised to unlock some vital missing piece to breakthrough. Each one brought you to the edge of your seat in anticipation of finally unlocking God’s will for your life.

Yet every key placed in your hand by Satan’s ministers was forged to bind you, not free you. Let’s remove Satan’s mask and get into that section now:

Keys to Kingdom Success — 12 keys to succeed in your season; 7 keys to prosper God’s way; 5 keys to kingdom advancement.

Each key was shaped by what Satan’s ministers wrestle with inside—their efforts to cleanse themselves, to manage their guilt, to quiet the unrest they carry, and to repair a conscience that remains defiled. These keys reveal not only Satan’s fragmented gospels, but his design for a false church body built on inner struggle rather than the covenant Jesus shed His blood to provide.

And while God gives us one key in the apostolic stewardship to open the door of Jesus’ covenant, look at how many keys Satan offers. Satan’s keys are the mainstay of Christian authors, journalists, editors, and story tellers. Christian ministers that came out of the Charismatic Movement all had a hand in forging Satan’s keys, each key unlocking the same darkness.

Are You Chasing the Keys the Enemy Offers?

As you chase the keys the enemy offers, each one promising to unlock God’s promises and bring you into His presence, you remain outside the one door God Himself has already opened in Christ for your fulness in Him.

  • This is not just your struggle. It is the condition of the modern church body.

Generations have been trained to expect solutions and fixes to the revolving door Satan designed, while resisting the foundation of truth God designed. You’ve experienced this, and your neighbor is bent under the same weight, carrying the same burden.

Take a moment to look at your spiritual key ring.

How many keys do you have? Over the years, you’ve gathered keys from every direction: books on how to release God’s blessings, manuals on spiritual warfare tactics, guides on how to shed a beggar mentality, teachings on how to maximize your “waiting seasons,” instructions on how to hear God’s voice, lessons on how to interpret suffering, how to apply and plead the blood as strategies for walking in victory.

Each key felt inspired, each promised to unlock some vital missing piece to breakthrough. Each one brought you to the edge of your seat in anticipation of finally unlocking God’s will for your life.

Yet every key placed in your hand by Satan’s ministers was forged to bind you, not free you. Instead of opening the door to God’s covenant, they tighten the enemy’s grip and keep you wandering with a ring full of promises jangling in your pocket that never unlock anything.

The enemy only intended to increase your burden, flood you with false knowledge, remove Jesus’ priesthood, and keep a lid on His covenant. Satan has no intention of letting you go.

Your drawers at home are full of keys. Your closet shelves are lined with keys. Keys you tried. Keys you abandoned. Keys you hoped would finally open the door to God’s promises.

And if you look around your church, you’ll see the same thing.

Everyone carries a key ring so heavy the toll is etched on their faces because it is first etched in their hearts. The weight of counterfeit pursuits has carved itself into the countenance of the false church body. Everyone shares the same condition, yet no one stops to notice how large the key ring has become.

The Deadliest Keys on The Charismatic Key Ring

I want to add a few more keys to this ever-growing key ring: “Pleading the Blood” or “applying the blood” keys. These keys have become one of the most recognizable and deadliest keys in the Charismatic key ring that allows Satan to weaponize your struggles.

These keys assume Jesus’ covenant even as it erases it. They promise access to God’s power through Jesus, yet at the same time closes the covenant door His blood opened, leaving you outside Jesus’ covenant house, displaced, frustrated, and confused.

You might have heard it preached:
“We have learned to preach a bloodless gospel. There’s no awareness that the blood of Jesus covers us… When we say we apply the blood, we are drawing on the blood covenant.”

God reveals Satan’s confounding: his ministers speak of the blood, but deny the covenant terms Jesus’ blood established. They severed the blood from the covenant. Charismatic and word‑faith teachers speak of the blood of Jesus, yet break the blood of Jesus from His covenant and turn it into confession practices.

They never come into 100% agreement with the terms God set in Jesus for our sanctified contact with Him. This refusal is felt in every heart and mind. Satan’s ministers deny the one covenant door that gives you entrance into the reality of God’s work in you, and they refuse the tools God sprinkled with Jesus’ blood—the very tools that equip you to reciprocate Him.

And the Lord has been calling out this transgression.

No matter how often people “apply”, “declare”, or “plead” the blood of Jesus hoping it will open doors of blessing and provide covering, the transgression seals His covenant door shut. They want to be brought into the presence of God without the tokens God designed to manifest His presence.

Let’s take a look at these “applying the blood” keys to see why God is delivering you from them.

Keys to apply the blood of Jesus for protection — 7 keys to secure covering; 5 keys to shield your home; 10 keys to guard your family.

Keys to plead the blood over your home, family, or finances — 6 keys to claim territory for Jesus; 8 keys to release power; 12 keys to break resistance.

Keys to declare the blood to break demonic assignments — 5 keys to break assignments; 9 keys to silence the enemy; 4 keys claim authority.

Keys to apply the blood to release blessing or breakthrough — 7 keys to claim favor; 10 keys to open blessing; 3 keys to unlock abundance.

Keys to plead the blood to open the door to God’s promises — 8 keys to discern direction; 6 keys to open spiritual doors; 11 keys to step into destiny.

This wilderness pursuit deceives the hearts of the simple. You’re not building with God; you’re simply addressing your own personal struggles in the covenant void. It is Satan’s lie meant to lead you on the wilderness paths he designed to keep you wandering, dry, hungry, disillusioned, frustrated, and doubtful.

And while he weighs you down with an ever‑growing key ring—keys for blessing, keys for breakthrough, keys for warfare, keys to apply the blood, keys for identity, keys for hearing God, keys for victory—he also created a reward system to keep you emotionally invested in the wandering.

The devil’s reward system has to do with how you meet your suffering and pain. He has a merit badge for each skill level you reach. Each one designed to give value to your suffering, displacement, and wilderness endurance. He hands out merit badges like candy—badges for “holding on”, badges for “not giving up”, badges for “learning through pain”, badges for “waiting on God”, badges for “trusting through disappointment”.

These are the things that shine in common testimonials posted on social media. Every believer has a “testimony” about how God met them in their challenge and their display case is full of wilderness badges.

But the Lord makes it clear: wilderness endurance is not covenant endurance. It’s the endurance of captivity, and Satan rewards it because it keeps believers in place.

In the wilderness, your ever growing collection of survival stories is a big as your spiritual key ring. Each story is proof of captivity, not evidence of the hand of God in the fruit bearing season He designed for us in Christ.

Satan created a reward system to keep you from exiting the wilderness. Yet believers are so accustomed to the wilderness-prison, it feels like home to them. The Lord’s one key that He placed in the apostolical stewardship feels foreign to those shaped by wilderness badges and wilderness keys—they were trained to value endurance over transformation, suffering over covenant participation, and emotional survival over covenant function.

If the enemy can persuade you that God’s new covenant in Jesus is simply one avenue of His plan, one spiritual path among many, or that his perversion of “pleading” “claiming” and “applying” Jesus’ blood will lead to victory, then the covenant loses its reality in your mind. Satan severed the blood from the covenant and gave you his substitutes.

  • Believers are beginning to awaken to the sobering realization: their spiritual life has been built on false authority systems.

We asked earlier how many keys you have on your spiritual key ring, and you discovered you had quite a lot of them collected over the years. And now the question deepens when we ask how many merit badges do you have in your display case?

With Satan’s deception unmasked, listen again to the familiar language that fills modern preaching. Ministers who are not apostles say they “declare the blood of Jesus over homes, hotel rooms, churches and other environments” and that “such declarations rest upon the authority of Christ’s sacrifice and the promises of the new covenant”.

So now you can see this testimonial teaching with new eyes. This is self‑management inside the covenant void. Wilderness ministers are constantly looking for authority to overcome Satan’s lies while remaining entrapped by them, proudly wearing the merit badges he awards for surviving the very prison he built.

The Apostle Paul never pleaded the blood over Rome. Jesus didn’t do a Jericho march around Jerusalem. The apostles didn’t teach believers how to claim salvation over all their friends, family members, neighbors and city. Believers need to follow the true calling of the covenant and stop adopting these foolish teachings Satan sowed in the church through his servants.

God’s covenant terms, apostolic stewardship, spiritual tools, and priesthood—the very things the anointing works with—have become a take‑it‑or‑leave‑it option, just another possibility in a landscape of spiritual paths to explore.

The enemy’s counterfeit system thrives because it offers endless avenues, each claiming the name of Jesus and the authority of scripture, but none restoring the one blueprint God laid in Christ.

As God awakens you to your true condition, the door to Jesus’ covenant opens to end your exhaustive drive to get more keys. God gave only one plan of salvation: the covenant of Jesus Christ. Every other avenue is the enemy’s deception designed to keep believers wandering the wilderness paths instead of entering the only way God prepared to save us, adopt us, equip us, walk with us, create His fruit in us, and give us an eternal inheritance in His name. That’s God’s will for you.

And yet, even as God opens His covenant door, the presses of Satan’s false knowledge industry keep running. More books are already coming off the line. More “keys” are being packaged and sold.

Ministers assume you are an easy mark, ready to trade your true inheritance in Christ for another round of empty promises. The flood of false knowledge will not stop because the enemy has no intention of letting you go.

But the covenant door stands open to those who are seeking the Lord for the way of His covenant. When the Lord said through Apostle Paul, “no other foundation can be laid”, He means no other foundation can be received except the one God laid in Jesus Christ. That which God puts in the mouth of the apostolic stewardship will restore faith to the covenant He authorized in Jesus’ blood.
