Is God offended?
God isn’t offended when the righteous show honour or bestow praise to those God honours. The world applauds their own, and God honours those that love Him.
It’s biblical to honour, highly esteem, and praise those that love the Lord. But envy shuts the mouth for good but opens wide their lips to scold the light, because they honour the darkness.
Highly Esteem Them
1 Thessalonians 5:13
“And to esteem them very in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.”
Another Man Praise Thee
Proverbs 27:2
“Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.”
Sheba the Bad Example Towards Stewardship
But many believers act out the wicked attitude of Sheba towards the House of David.
Samuel 20:1
“And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.”
The Good Example of Jonathan and Bad Example of Saul
But God was with the one He sanctified for the calling of stewardship. Believers under the anointing of faith as Jonathan the son of Saul yielded to the calling upon David even against his own interests. Are you a Saul believer or a Jonathan believer.
The Anointing Doesn’t Confirm without Faith
1 Samuel 20:30
“Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother’s nakedness?”
When the Anointing is Knit Together as One
1 Chronicles 12:17
“And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.”
1 Samuel 18:1
“And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.”
The Anointing Upon the Steward Sees By the Eyes of God
2 Samuel 14:17
“Then thine handmaid said, The word of my lord the king shall now be comfortable: for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: therefore the Lord thy God will be with thee.”
2 Samuel 19:27
“And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in thine eyes.”
Is Loving Your Spouse Idolatry
Ephesians 5:25
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”
Colossians 3:19
“Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.”
The Word Reverence to the King and the Spouse
2 Samuel 9:6
“Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!”
1 Kings 1:31
“Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.”
Psalm 89:7
“God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.”
Ephesians 5:33
“Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.”
Conclusion of the Matter
When we honor those that honor God, the Lord delights in this expression of charity.
